"It is imperative that all physicians have knowledge of nutrition", as declared this morning at the Catholic University San Antonio (UCAM), the president of the Spanish Federation of Nutrition (FESNAD), Jordi Salas, who has spoken out today UCAM conference on `The Role of Nutrition FESNAD in Spanish."
Significantly, the paper has been framed within the Conference Market, Economics and Innovation in Food 2011, promoted by the technology-based company of the University, San Antonio Technologies.
FESNAD Chambers has defined as an interdisciplinary association composed of 12 scientific societies specializing in different areas such as enteral nutrition, parenteral, Clinical and Community Dietetics, Endocrinology and Public Health.
Jordi Salas explained in his speech that the FESNAD was founded 15 years ago with the purpose of unifying forces and interests in order to realize national scientific initiatives and social and academic exchanges aimed at full development of the Nutrition and Dietetics Overall, the Science of Food in Spain.
Salas pointed out that nutrition is a relatively young science in our country, cross-cutting, and linked from every point of view to the totality of medical specialties.
"Nutrition is ubiquitous in medical practice, since all patients, without exception, need to be fed."
The physician is also referred to the vital role of new technologies in the development of the Science of Food and called for promoting cooperation and communication between experts in nutrition, via the Internet, and its universal spread through forums, meetings , conferences and symposia.
"The FESNAD website, is an effective tool in this regard," he assured.
