Ethnography, culture and traditions' get 279 pictures]

The sixth annual photo contest 'Murcia.

Ethnography, culture and traditions' Space-Stables River Mills has done it again exceed the number of participants and quality of work, compared to past editions.

The jury, composed by photographer Juan Ballester, documentarian and ethnographer Tomás García, and Head of Museums and Cultural Activities Manuel Fernandez-Delgado, and chaired by the Councillor for Culture Fátima Barnuevo, met to choose winning photographs of the three existing categories: the two usual 'Current Stock' (recent images ethnographic heritage) and 'historical photo' (collection of old photographs from family archives that constitute ethnographic documents), and specifically this year, 'The rural heritage. "

In total, 279 photographs were received and winners were: Cosme Muñoz, with a series of chapels of Yecla and Joaquin Zamora, with a picture of a herd in Chícamo River, in the form of photograph on rural heritage, and Manuel Zamora with a portrait of a seller of snails in the market Veronicas, and Jesus Martinez, a photograph of a grape treader Bullas, in the category of contemporary photography on ethnographic heritage.

In the form of historical photography, the winners were Jose Martinez and Rosa Ferrer.

The photographs are about anything that reflects the historical, cultural and ethnographic some of the natural regions that make up the Region of Murcia.

Each of the three modes is equipped with a first and second prize of 600 and 400 euros respectively, except for historical photography, the prize is 300 and 200 euros.

The pictures are part of an exhibition at the center may be published in a catalog.

The aim of this competition is to encourage artistic creativity and documenting and sharing our traditions while serving to save images from family archives.

Over the years, nearly a thousand photographs have been presented in the various calls.

They have been discovering places and scenes of our culture that will undoubtedly help us to know ourselves better and, therefore, to value our identity.

The number of participants and presented snapshots have been increasing as the contests were summoned from the first held in 2005.

Of the over 60 photographs presented in the first edition have been significantly exceeded the 200 snapshots in recent calls, reaching 279 in this edition.

The number of photographers involved in the competition also has increased considerably, and the quality of the entries.

Another aspect is the geographical diversity of the documentary evidence collected over the years.

The works presented are representative of virtually all natural areas in the region of Murcia.
