"NATO has become a global advocacy organization, said yesterday at the Universidad Catolica San Antonio de Murcia, Army Lt. Col. Air, expert of the Spanish Institute for Strategic Studies, Francisco Berenguer.

The analyst yesterday UCAM analyzed the evolution of NATO's strategic landscape, resulting from the new strategic concept of NATO, within the lecture series `The new NATO strategic concept ', promoting the Department for International Relations and Communication .

Berenguer discussed during his speech the organization's current role in combat and prevention of threats, including nuclear weapons, cyber attacks, energy security, organized crime, or environmental disasters.

Professor of International Law at the University of Murcia, Cesareo Gutierrez Espada, closed the conference cycle analysis' core mission of NATO's new strategic concept. "

Francisco Berenguer said the new strategic concept of NATO lies in the culmination of a transition from the original conception of NATO, conceived initially as a regional defense organization, which becomes gradually in a defense organization global.

Berenguer also analyzed the impact of the restructuring process of the permanent structure of the Alliance in Spain.

"The conversion process for Spain NATO has a special interest and importance, resulting in the strengthening of our capacity for action and the expansion of our defensive capabilities. The adaptation of the strategic concept of NATO was absolutely necessary" he said.

The expert analyzed the organization's strategic outlook, risks and threats to security within its strategic concept.
