Murcia City Council, through the Department of Health and Human Services, which runs Fulgencio Cervantes, will allocate a contribution of 4,500 euros to the Association of Families and Mental Illness (AFES) to promote the integration and standardization of these people in society.
The contribution this week received approval from the Board of Governors.
The objective of both the Department of Health and AFES, is to work for integration and rehabilitation of persons affected by chronic mental illness, through the intervention of specialist social workers that can increase the quality of life and autonomy of these patients.
With the collaboration agreement, which has now been ratified by the Government Commission of the City of Murcia, will start the project "Social Educator Program for Chronic Mental Illness."
The project aims at enhancing the resources and abilities of the mentally ill as citizens integrated into a community, and achieve greater participation and responsibility in taking care of each one of them.
