Getting people living in flats with an intellectual disability and university students who act as mediators is one of the objectives to be achieved with the implementation of the Shared Housing Project: Training for independent living and independent people with intellectual disabilities.
The Governing Board gave the green light this week to the extension of the collaboration agreement between the city of Murcia and Murcia Fundown.
Joining a Shared Housing is for people with intellectual disabilities, also for students, the opportunity to experience all those skills and competencies learned.
Participation in the project must have a beginning and an end from the moment it is not a residence or a group home, with the idea that after completion of the preparation time for each person to live independently decide where and with Who wants to live.
In each house there will be four or five young-more the mediator, and offers training at various levels: autonomy, solidarity and freedom of personal choice.
Murcia City Council will subsidize the rent and routine household expenses (water, electricity and community) of each of the shared living activities within the agreement, up to a maximum of ten performances each year and a maximum of 3,700 euros .
People with intellectual disabilities must meet the following requirements:
- Be an adult.
- Having the certificate of disability greater than 33% which is credited to his intellectual disability.
- Not getting income over two times the minimum wage
- Demonstrate conclusively that living in a shared house, in the framework of this project.
- Being in a shared housing program in which students live with the University of Murcia (certificate of the entity that developed the program.)
