The IU-Greens candidate for mayor of Murcia, Esther Herguedas, attributed today the "difficult" situation in the small business of the municipality to "sprawl" in which the PP has focused in recent years.
According Herguedas, the traditional trade "is no longer backbone and driving force of the local economy due to the implementation of a development model based on large residential and commercial premises on the outskirts of town.
It has therefore proposed a plan to encourage economic activity of small businesses that go through the defense of a city model "compact and inclusive" face "the dehumanization of the major developments."
Has supported the establishment of a moratorium on the construction of shopping malls and the monitoring and implementation of the Trade Act, in particular with regard to opening and closing.
It has also raised the need to develop a plan to modernize commerce in the areas of marketing and new technologies as well as enhancement of institutional support campaigns to promote local trade.
