Professors of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Murcia have won the "Antonio Borregón" the best free paper at the Seventh World Congress Taurino, held in Caceres, an arthroscopic study of osteochondrosis of the fighting bull.
To do this research, the authors analyzed the thoracic limbs of seven bulls cinqueños, the digital radiographs were performed, proving that five of them to a greater or lesser extent, osteochondrosis, a developmental orthopedic disease and that is a failure during the process of ossification.
The study indicates that it has found no correlation between the behavior of the animal in the ring and the presence of osteochondrosis, "there are no symptoms that would make us suspect the presence of these injuries."
The authors also refer to the "desirability of further studies in this case, with older animals to see if this condition degenerates in osteoarthritis."
Those responsible for this research are teachers Gomariz Martinez, More, Vazquez, Gil, Seva, Sanchez and Ramirez.
