Professor, University of Murcia Fulgencio Marín Iniesta and Transfer Office of Research Results of this educational institution (TTO) have been awarded in prizes Applied Research, convened by the European Centre for Enterprise and Innovation Murcia (CEEIM).
Marín Iniesta and the company of Molina de Segura "Saeco" received the award for a research-project company active packaging based on micro-roughened cardboard casings with different coatings and can extend the shelf life of food.
The jury noted the "critical approach to collaboration in the business" of this innovation that led to the transport of horticultural products and food, reduce cooling costs and is environmentally friendly.
Fulgencio Marín, the research group of Food Biotechnology, has received on this project with the collaboration of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and the University of Jerusalem.
In addition to the TTO and the aforementioned professor from the University of Murcia was also recognized researcher Juan Antonio Madrid, which was a finalist with a study of the circadian system (biological clock) to prevent disease.
