Emphasis will be placed in the snuff, alcohol and cannabis use
More than 3,400 students from the municipality, with ages from 12 years, will participate in workshops to prevent drug that triggers the Department of Health and Human Services, which runs Fulgencio Cervantes.
A total of hundred workshops held during 2011 and 2012 in which young people actively participate and have an impact on preventing the use of snuff, alcohol and cannabis.
According to data from surveys on drugs to schoolchildren of the National Plan on Drugs, the onset substance use occurs after age 13, and in the range of 13 to 16 years has virtually interacted with all substances.
The snuff and alcohol, followed by cannabis are the substances most used.
The motivations to consume are playful and not ingesting these substances that cause damage to health is the main reason.
Drug information they receive on all media, family and talks.
Young people see schools of direct routes for information about drug prevention.
The workshops are actively working with the students by offering content and information on substances, effects, use versus abuse, risk behaviors, social skills, peer pressure and decision making.
It also endeavor to involve families.
The objectives of this program are to foster the development of actions framed in the context of prevention of alcohol, snuff and cannabis in schools in the municipality of Murcia, to support the work of the teaching staff with the addition of thematic use prevention alcohol, snuff and other drugs in the academic curriculum, and strengthen the approach already established within the framework of workshops on prevention of drug use.
After completing the workshop will be an assessment to determine the impact of activities on the recipients and the overall assessment.
The Governing Board has awarded Local Initiatives this service, SL, with an investment of about 20,000 euros.
