National Police agents have broken up an organized group dedicated to cloning scam bank cards and have arrested a Spanish and four Romanians, aged between 21 and 42 years
The modus operandi of the organization investigated was as follows: Three members of the organization obtained the original data and operating bank cards provided to these employees in the organization in third countries where data were obtained by fraudulent means.
Once this information had in its possession of the organization in Spain, members of the same incorporated these data to other cards, using the proper equipment.
Support for magnetic stripe cards which were copied these data, obtained through the recruitment of bank cards in the name of the very members of the network.
Thus, the investigators had bank cards whose data were consistent with those that were in their identity documents, although the charges on the cards were produced by the accounts associated with fraudulent data entered on the cards.
In this way, and once prepared the documents and they were used to make purchases such as jewelry stores and gas stations located in the Region of Murcia.
The products thus obtained are then resold on the black market.
Two of the detainees, among which is the Spanish nationality, were engaged in transporting goods and services used by an organized group to refuel their vehicles at a far lower cost than real.
To date, forty operations have proved fraudulent, made with nine false bank cards, original cloned active cards in South Korea.
The total amount of the fraudulent amounts to about 20,000, although it is estimated that both the total amount of transactions, as the number of these may be higher.
The research was conducted by officers from the Judicial Police Provincial de Murcia.
The detainees were brought before the Magistrate's Court in Murcia Guard duties on 10th March.
