A doctoral dissertation at the University of Murcia for Catalina Martínez Costa proposed a computer model that will allow the exchange of clinical information between health centers and hospitals.
With the method described in this research, which has obtained excellent cum laude, is
facilitates the consultation of a patient's medical history, regardless of city or country from which it.
Catalina Martinez is convinced of the need for "interoperability of clinical information between hospitals and health centers to improve the quality and safety of care provided to patients, general public health, clinical research and management of health services. "
"In a world where everything is connected through Internet and add the author can not accept that medical information continues to remain isolated and inaccessible on the servers of a hospital or health center."
The method is based on two so-called "medical standards": the European ISO 13606 and the so-called "openEHR" which has allowed the qualitative leap for the coordination between different health systems.
The thesis was supervised by Professor of the School of Computer Jesualdo Breis Tomás Fernández.
