The high school student Floridablanca Antonio Luis de la Torre Otálora was the winner of the First Regional Geography Olympiad, beating 136 students from 25 secondary schools in the Region of Murcia.
This student will represent the Region in the national phase of the Olympiad, to be held April 16 in Santander, like the runner, Mario Ruiz Sánchez, Institute of Valle del Segura (White), and the third, María Martínez Hita, Francisco de Goya (Molina de Segura).
This competition, which has as main objective to promote the teaching of geography among high school students, was organized by the University of Murcia, Spain's Association of Geographers and the Ministry of Education, Training and Employment.
The awards ceremony, held at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Murcia, was chaired by the Vice Chancellor of University Extension, Francisco Guillermo Diaz, and included an informative talk about studies and career of Geography.
