With a budget of 2.2 billion euros, the work has been funded 50 percent by the regional government

The President of the Autonomous Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, today inaugurated the rehabilitation of the district of Los Almendros, in the village of La Alberca Murcia, which have improved the living conditions of 151 homes of families with low economic resources, through action financed by the Institute for Housing and Land in the Region of Murcia.

The president, who was accompanied by the Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, and the mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, visited this district, composed of houses built between the 70's where they live a thousand people, and where also are six shops and three parish halls.

The works have been conducted in the four blocks built, which has involved the complete rehabilitation of the facades of buildings, painting of the woodwork, matching the stairs and placement of new doors in public areas.

Furthermore, it has carried out the replacement of the sewerage network and improving insulation in homes, to achieve greater energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.

With a budget of 2.2 billion euros, the work has been funded 50 percent by the regional government, while the Consistory Murcia and neighbors have contributed to 50 per cent.

This action allows us to offer the residents of a housing suitable living conditions, thanks to a project with a strong social component to benefit the families most in need and improve the quality of life of hundreds of Murcia.

Implementation of this rehabilitation project is attached to actions carried out through cooperation of the Institute for Housing and Land in the Region of Murcia and Murcia City neighborhoods for the recovery of traditional areas of the municipality.

These performances are those in the Santa Maria de Gracia and Vistabella, which has carried out improvement works along with those of Los Almendros, benefiting over 1,200 families.
