The library of Fame, which depends on the Department of Education, which directs María Dolores Sánchez, has changed its name to the writer Jose Saramago.
The name change was made by a plenary agreement of July 2010, at the request of a motion by Izquierda Unida.
The City Council has installed a plaque on the door of the library with the new name.
In addition, courses will be launched to disseminate the author's work.
José Saramago, who received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1998, died on June 18, 2010.
The municipality has 16 libraries and reading centers.
