The 'where the owl lives' aims to conserve and promote biodiversity in a special area of protection of birds Monte Valley and Escalona Altaona Saws
Murcia is again awarded for projects to improve environmental quality in the municipality.
On this occasion the Council has received an award in the Competition III projects for the enhancement of Biodiversity, organized by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces.
The FEMP has recognized this project 'Actions for the conservation and enhancement of biodiversity through the maintenance of municipal properties of City Hall in a special area of protection of birds Monte Valley Altaona saws and Escalona.

The project aims at several objectives which are reflected in the cooperation agreement signed between two agencies:
- Enhance the biodiversity of both farm forestry and agricultural areas.
- Assist the knowledge of the environment by the citizens of the natural values of this protected area.
- Promote environmental awareness to young people with environmental education activities.
- Fire Prevention
- To improve agricultural conditions of rainfed farming (almonds, carob and olive trees) already in place and implementation of new cultivars of dry land.
- Encourage the existence of species of fauna attached this medium.
- Encourage local farmers to good agroforestry.
- Maintenance of the landscape.
- Adequately manage existing water birth, so as to encourage different types of species of fauna habitat and create conditions conducive to the dispersal of amphibians.
- Creating jobs for local people with the many farm tasks to develop.
The total project is 45,000 euros, to be funded by FEMP, while the award ceremony was held on March 16 at the headquarters of the federation.
