A doctoral dissertation at the University of Murcia has defended the value of the reservoirs in the Lower Sea Basin as a strategy for adaptation to aridity and drought and its water heritage interest, architectural, cultural, historical and geographical.
Férez Matthew Martinez, who obtained excellent cum laude for his research, has found the state of deterioration and neglect that record these items catchment in the Basin, to be considered obsolete by their owners.
The author notes that it has been known to project to the value that society had and have the tanks "as a cultural landscape of this region identifier and track and legacy of a lifestyle that has meant so much to their original owners."
The study also analyzed the cisterns surrounding areas and other geographical and historical elements such as creeks, trails, old cords and passage ways.
The thesis was supervised by Professor of Physical Geography Martín José Lillo.
