Eurocities has chosen the city of Murcia as a venue for the meeting of the working group for energy, climate change and air quality.
During the 9th and March 11 experts from different European cities in Murcia will meet to discuss and define the position of European cities against the European Commission on energy efficiency issues, climate change and air quality.
The significant media coverage is having a national and international level these issues at present shows that are of greatest concern to European cities at this time.
Murcia is one of the most active in these fields currently in Eurocities and as a result Eurocities Murcia has chosen to host this meeting of the working group.
During these days will be held various meetings and conferences at the headquarters of ALEM, the Local Agency for Energy and Climate Change in Murcia which is responsible for representing Murcia in this forum.
The meetings are closed to members of the working group.
Among the objectives of the working group include the networking as a way to share actions that result in improved air quality and the implementation of EU legislation in cities, to join efforts to integrate adaptation measures climate change in cities and the development of energy plans to improve the sustainability of European cities.
Among the topics to be discussed at the conference in Murcia include adaptation of cities to climate change, financing of local measures of environmental protection and development of policies and action plans for sustainable energy.
Among the cities participating in the conference include London, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Dublin, Zurich, Vienna, Stockholm, Belfast, Oslo, Munich, Madrid, Frankfurt, The Hague, Rotterdam, Brno, Manchester, Birmingham Utrecht or who is the current coordinator working group.
