Scenic Viewpoints Network includes environmental sites in Canadas de San Pedro, Monteagudo, Cabeza de Torres, La Alberca, Santo Angelo, Algezares, Torreagüera and Sangonera la Verde
Contemplating the beauty of Murcia from the heights.
This is the aim of the new Scenic Viewpoints Network which aims to create a zone of contemplation of the municipality in various natural settings.
The collaboration between the Department of Environment and Urban Quality and the Department of Public Works and Planning will allow the preparation of these emblematic areas of the municipality continuing in this way, the strategy of the Municipality of Murcia to develop outreach and awareness citizen related to the landscape and heritage resources of the municipality.
Therefore, it has been necessary to conduct a detailed study by the Dean of the College of Biologists, Herminio Picazo, around the town of Murcia, in order to meet the different landscape units that have been presented.
The main objectives of this work have been developed:
* Select those viewpoints in the municipality of Murcia where feasible scenic viewpoints placement.
* Detect conditioning needs of these vantage points including the signaling elements, protection and furniture required for the establishment of scenic lookouts.
* Perform the necessary project implementation in each of the selected sites.
To meet these goals has conducted a detailed field work has led to the proposal of a total of fourteen sites for the installation of viewpoints in different districts:

The study details the actions to be undertaken at each of them.
Thus, each viewpoint will have a sign interpretive landscape, made of wood, 125x50 cm., Which will allow an adequate understanding of the panoramic view from every vantage point.
Its content will contribute to the dissemination of natural, cultural, ethnographic and architectural, which shows each of the sites that form part of the landscape Viewpoints Network.
For its design has been based on the design of the signaling network of trails in the region of Murcia, adapting it to get your own image Viewpoints Network Landscape of the municipality.
They include a text explaining the landscape unit and the main points of interest seen from him, and found a picture of the landscape.
At the lookouts and reinforce or replace existing protective railing, interpretive signage will be installed and carried out the cleanup and improvement of walls, floor ...

The project also includes actions to be taken for the dissemination of the Network of viewpoints, storage and maintenance as well as a plan for monitoring and evaluation.
Its implementation will provide an important Murcia educational and recreational resource, contributing significantly to public awareness of environmental values of the municipality and be involved more in their conservation.
The cost of the study amounted to 15,000 euros funded in part by the Ministry of Public Works and Planning.
The subsequent execution of the project will cost 120,000 euros.
