A large group of students of the Degree of Nursing from the Catholic University San Antonio (UCAM) participated this morning in a mock disaster facility, organized by the Faculty of Nursing, in collaboration with the NGO Action Fire and the GESCARM- 061, in the context of the subject Emergency and Disasters, which provide teachers Manuel Pardo and Jesus Fernandez.
The activity has staged a very realistic consequences of a collision between cars to victims as well as fast-acting measures carried out by emergency crews.
The professor of the Faculty of Nursing, UCAM, Manuel Pardo, has weighed positively the implementation of this new training initiative and stressed that the seminar is an example of the innovations incorporated into the teaching program of nursing studies at the University Catholic, following its progress from the Diploma to Degree.
Manuel Pardo explained that "the activity has included the recreation of a START-like triage (the method of the Emergency and Disaster Medicine for the selection and classification of patients according to the priorities of care, favoring the possibility of survival, according to therapeutic needs and available resources) as well as conducting workshops on various detention, care and rescue of victims of traffic accidents. "
