Researchers at the Laboratory of Optics, University of Murcia led by Professor Pablo Artal have developed a technology used to accurately detect the degree of progress of the cataracts.
This research for the evaluation of the falls is a major advancement in ophthalmology, and so far there was no rigorous method to identify this disease, especially in its early stages of development.
With the application of a specific eye exam procedure, using the double-step methodology, researchers have managed to spot images on the retina of the patient, from which we obtain a single index of ocular dissemination to detect phase where is the waterfall.
This assessment will indicate more reliably when surgery is required, avoiding patient years with poor vision.
The study is published in the American journal PLoS One signature of Antonio Benito, Guillermo Pérez, Encarna Alcon, Alvaro de Casas, Jaume Pujol, José María Marín, and Artal said.
