"Scientific knowledge is the solution to the food to which we have to face. Where there is no future research", assured the Minister of Agriculture and Water of the Autonomous Community of Murcia, Antonio Cerdá, during the inauguration of 'Days of market economy and innovation in food 2011'.

During the event also took place the conference "Science and the market 'has been given by the Director of Shirota Functional Foods-company dedicated to the development of functional foods-Xavier Gomez.

Note that the Conference is organized by the San Antonio Technologies spinoff, a new initiative coordinated by the Vice President for Research UCAM-oriented science and technology dissemination and transfer of knowledge in the field of agribusiness.

During his lecture, Xavier Gomez pointed out that since the last decade has occurred in the field of scientific paradigm shift regarding how knowledge is produced, how it is produced and how production is organized knowledge.

Furthermore, it indicated that a problem exists with respect to the investigation as the foundation on which sits the evaluation of research activity are purely scientific.

"But the rules for assessing dysfunctionality of it, based on other parameters than scientists," he asserted.

San Antonio Technologies

San Antonio Technologies, is a new initiative of the San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia, coordinated by the Vice President for Research and Vice Dean of Food Technology of the UCAM, Estrella Núñez, and Professor Javier Morán, and will contribute to training of professionals and entrepreneurs in the food industry, and that will bring students to the world of business.

San Antonio Technologies aims to involve all along the value chain of food, ie, from the basic idea to the marketing and UCAM make an institution of international standing in biomedicine and biotechnology.

Worth noting that companies such as Danone, Gallina Blanca, Central Dairy Asturiana alicorp, Garcia Baquero, Belcorp, AB-Biotics, Alpine, Carinsa, Salvat Biotech, among others, are already part of the customer base for this project.
