The Board of the University of Murcia today approved the 2011 budget this institution, rising to 211.1 million euros, a decrease compared to 2010 of seven percent.
The manager of the University, Peter Galvez, has been commissioned to present the draft budget, approved last Monday by the Governing Council of the University.
During this session of Social Council, the Vice Chancellor Juan María Vázquez has exposed the contents of the Mare Nostrum Campus of Excellence, which is undertaken jointly with the Polytechnic University of Cartagena.
Vazquez has reported on the main priorities of the project, aimed at the internationalization of both universities, the introduction of common infrastructure and the promotion of research activity.
In this last chapter, the rector moved the existing project to launch a research institute on the campus of Espinardo together with the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC).
At the beginning of the session was inaugurated as the voice for a new term, the Dean of Nursing, Carmen Gomez, on behalf of the Governing Council of the University.
Also, the proposal of the President, Juan Bernal, was recorded in the minutes of the feeling of this body by the recent death of José María Aroca, who was mayor of Murcia and Social Council president.
