The municipality will manage international projects and Mobisec SURE
The European Union has chosen to Murcia to lead two projects related to environment and sustainable mobility: The SURE project and Mobisec.
Thus, the Department of Environment and Urban Quality in collaboration with the European Programmes, has been subsidized with 356,799 euros to launch two initiatives.
Mobisec project objectives are to promote cycling as usual means of transport and ensure the safety of users of public roads and especially of cyclists and pedestrians.
In addition, the project aims to promote Mobisec strategies intermodality between bicycle and other means of transport and promote civic participation through educational programs on the benefits of cycling for the environment and health.
The city of Murcia will be responsible for project management during the 36-month planning agendas, coordinating work plans, monitoring the project and carrying out inspection reports.
In addition, technical studies on the need to use geolocators in the rational design of bicycle lanes and bicycle intermodality with other means of transport.
For its part, the city of Varna make reports and guides on the bicycle and pedestrian safety, and information and awareness campaigns, while the city of Lodz, the third participating city, will be the task of measuring citizen participation during the project conducting statistical surveys and reports of results.
For his part, SURE project Sustainable Urban Energy seeks to assist the cities of Salé (Morocco) and Polotsk (Belarus) to develop an action program for sustainable energy and commitment to adhere to a 20% reduction in emissions of greenhouse emissions by 2020 of the Covenant of Mayors.
Murcia help the City of Sale, near Rabat, to develop an energy assessment of their municipality, 10 municipal buildings energy audit and develop an Action Plan for Sustainable Energy.
In addition, Murcia collaborate with the implementation of a pilot action on energy efficiency and / or renewable energy in Salé.
Similarly, Murcia assist in the performance of another similar pilot in Polotsk and organize a training course on energy issues for municipal employees of the City of Rabat.
The ultimate aim is that the cities of Rabat and Polotsk sign the Covenant of Mayors and commit to a 20% reduction in emissions of greenhouse gases in the city through conservation measures and energy efficiency.
