Murcia will host the 17th day of November, the first of six semi-finals of the prestigious Chef of the Year, an event aimed at professional chefs, over 23 years, and endorsed by the three-star Michelin chef, Martín Berasategui.
This gastronomic event, which celebrates its fourth edition, is organized by the Caterdata Group, in collaboration with the Department of Tourism of the Municipality of Murcia, María Isabel Valcárcel directing.
The cooks have already submitted proposals to participate.
The menu cost should not exceed 16 euros per person in raw material.
A technical committee will choose the ten best recipes for their authors to compete live in the semifinals to be held at the Centre for Tourism Qualification Murcia, from 16.30 to 19.30.
In the town will host the semifinals of the region of Murcia and Valencia.
The semi-final jury will Murcia Jordi Cruz tasting, chef of the restaurant Àbac (Barcelona), two-star Michelin and L'Angle (Sant Fruitós Bages, Barcelona) a Michelin star, CCA vice president of the jury and winner of the first competition, Paco Franco, president of the Council of Valencia Gastronomy; Susi Diaz, a star Michelin chef (Restaurant La Finca, Elche, Alicante), Jose Quintana, a Michelin star chef (Restaurante Torrijos, Valencia) and José Carlos Fuentes , winner of the third edition of this event in Murcia and chef of the Mansion Inn Restaurant Rural La Seda de Santa Cruz, Murcia.
Snacks Contest
Chefs Contestants must also prepare a cover snack at a cost of two euros per unit raw material.
This contest is sponsored by Codorniu snacks and completely independently scored the official competition.
Evaluation of these snack, the organization will have the collaboration of Juan Carlos Galbis, director of the Mediterranean School of Valencia and José Rico, restaurant Souk Tower Murcia.
As technical panels in the kitchen will be Diego Jimenez, a professor of CCT Cuisine of Murcia and Vinyet Capdet responsible Restoration Area CETT Barcelona.
In addition to the culinary competition, where selected chefs cooking your recipe, create a space called Chef TV, a scenario with two mobile kitchens and a 'set' of television interviews in which celebrity chefs, sponsors and different professional sector interact with the audience, like a television program in question.
Beatriz Sotelo, Michelin-starred chef and winner of the second competition, Jordi Cruz and the grand master confectioner, Paco Torreblanca, will star in the kitchens of Chef TV set and who will conduct the cooking demonstrations of parallel activities.
The semi-final to be held in Murcia is the first, but during 2010, 2011 and 2012 semi-finals will be held in Barcelona (area of Catalonia, the Balearic Islands and Aragon), Marbella (area of Andalusia, Canary Islands, Extremadura, Ceuta and Melilla) , Gijón (area of Galicia, Asturias and Castilla y León), Santander (Cantabria area, Basque Country, Navarra and La Rioja) and Madrid (area of Madrid and Castilla la Mancha). The final competition will be held during Barcelona Food Fair (March 2012).
