The managers of Spanish universities fifty, assembled at the XXVIII University Management Workshops held on the campus of Mercy, have demanded more resources for these institutions to continue offering quality services demanded by society.
In opening the meeting, held in the auditorium of the University of Murcia, the secretary general of the Ministry of Education Universities, Marius Rubiralta, has highlighted the importance of knowledge for the solution to the crisis and promised the cooperation of Department "at this difficult time."
For his part, Minister of Universities, Business and Research in the Region of Murcia, Salvador Marin, stated that universities as a public service providers should strive to develop a management "agile, efficient, objective and transparent."
Referring to the economic situation, Marin has said that an effort is necessary to streamline the management, optimize resources and increase efficiency.
The president of the Board of Managers of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) and rector of the University of Castilla-La Mancha, Ernesto Martínez Ataz, indicated that "it takes a lot of imagination to continue providing services at a time not easy, as are current. "
He added that universities will not be forced to provide these quality services "if at the same time not give us the necessary means."
The opening session has been conducted by the rector of the University of Murcia, José Antonio Cobacho, who stressed the importance of the conference and the conclusions emerging from the same given the high turnout, with nearly two hundred registered, and the high number universities represented.
The opening ceremony was also attended, among others, the government delegate in the Region of Murcia, Rafael González Tovar.
Throughout the two-day meeting will be discussed issues such as management on campus and the campuses of excellence, not to mention issues such as sustainability, urban planning and conservation measures.
