The President of the Autonomous Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, and rectors of the University of Murcia and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, José Antonio Cobacho and Felix Faure, have argued today at the headquarters of the Higher Council for Scientific Research in Madrid, the project Campus Mare Nostrum with both universities opt to Campus of Excellence rating.
Valcárcel transmitted to members of the jury, composed of nine international experts from different fields of knowledge, "the great commitment of all Murcia for this project" that "combines the efforts, hopes and desires of society Murcia" and that " contribute to the modernization and productive change in the region. "
Prior to these interventions, a video in which people like Margarita Salas, Federico Mayor Zaragoza and José Manuel Sánchez-Vizcaíno have expressed their support for the candidacy of Murcia.
The Government delegate, Rafael Sánchez Tovar, the Minister for Universities and Research Company, Salvador Marín, the Mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, the president of Cajamurcia, Carlos Egea, or territorial President, Angel Martinez, among others, were members of the delegation of the Region.
Next to the Mare Nostrum project, there were 21 proposals from 37 other Spanish universities.
The decision will be known late tomorrow or Thursday.
