School Reinforcement Project began as a project to work with children belonging to socially disadvantaged groups, it quickly grew into an essential tool in the process of integration of other groups with special difficulties, such as for immigrant children have been incorporated into a new education system for them, with adjustment difficulties, language problems, etc.
Data for the 2008-2009 academic year are telling the enormous human capital deployed and their effects:
- 100 volunteers that stably have collaborated on the project, have allowed the care of 149 children from 37 districts and districts, school in 53 schools in our municipality distributed as follows:
* 54 volunteers in parishes, who have cared for 84 children of 31 schools.
* 46 volunteers in the village, who have cared for 65 children of 22 schools.
Of the 149 children treated, 44 children are immigrants, representing 29.50%.
It is necessary to stress the dedication with which the volunteers have made their support, especially of those who choose to serve under parishes, for the extra effort are of course moving to different parts of the municipality in which they have lent their collaboration.
It is important to recognize the dedication of young volunteers have been with children, using a total of 4,890 hours, which, with its commitment to solidarity, has allowed many of them have been able to improve their academic performance, his way of coping and function in everyday life.
