The Deputy Mayor of Finance, Joaquin Moya-Angeler, stressed today at the roundtable of the Second Conference on Local Finance and the VAT that the tax increase generates distrust among citizens, reduced consumption and loss of competitiveness, while they already have a significant impact on budgets.
Moya-Angel has said that municipalities must have a supplementary fund to help defray the extra costs that local governments are at the same time stressed that the City Council of Murcia is undertaking a major plan austerity, cost containment and the promotion of savings.
One of the conclusions reached in the roundtable, which took place after the presentations and Martín Fernández Morata Arnao, has been more urgent need to have a Local Finance Law.
For his part, Director General of Local Government, Institutional and External Relations, Juan Antonio Morales, stated that since the autonomous region has not been reduced even a single euro to the municipalities of the Region of Murcia, and added further that , 2011, is to give municipalities an unconditional expenditure allocated to them what their priority needs.
Morales announced that the municipality of Murcia is among the first to have applied for accession to the agreement with the Autonomous Region for the implementation of electronic government services that allow citizens to be closer to the government.
