Secretary of Environment of the Municipal Executive Socialist Maria Teresa Cerezo today introduced a series of performances in energy efficiency applicable to the 50 cultural centers in the municipality of Murcia can be carried out to generate an estimated savings of 294,000 euros (almost 50 million pesetas) in the current spending bill for the municipality of Murcia from the actual study of energy consumption in a cultural center.

Currently the annual cost of energy consumption of a cultural center of the municipality is 6822.77 euros and the measures proposed by Maria Teresa Cerezo be reduced to 946 euros per year thus producing a saving of 5876.77 euros.

Multiply this figure by the 50 cultural centers the savings would be about 294,000 euros.

To cope with this change, the head of Environment states that would require a total investment of EUR 648,550 divided into 12,971 euros for each site and would be repaid after two years to replace the fixtures.

Maria Teresa Cerezo also notes that this would lead to energy savings of 86.13% after the replacement of lamps and light bulbs with low-current consumption more efficient and environmentally friendly.

In view of the findings of this study, the head of the Environment of the Socialist Municipal Executive has called on the government team's Party to take seriously its policy of current expenditure savings in times of crisis because energy cost is one of the highest we have now in public buildings.

In this sense, has asked the City Council to make a real commitment to the implementation of sustainable measures to reduce energy consumption.

Cerezo recalled that it is an obligation of the City Council and public administration to do everything possible to save energy by introducing the existing measures to improve energy efficiency in lighting for energy savings is the primary source of renewable energy.
