The Department of Environment and Urban Quality through the Park Service and Gardens has planted a palm tree this morning in the central Plaza Beato Andrés Hibernón, replacing one that was affected by the red palm weevil.
The new species is palm Washingtonia robusta and is about seven meters, age of eight to twelve years.
The plantation has assisted the council of the Environment and Urban Quality, Adela Martinez-Cache, accompanied by President of the Municipal Board, Isabel Monreal, and other members of the same.
Both merchants and restaurateurs have shown their appreciation for this planting
