The Executive Committee of the PSOE in Murcia City has proposed to its general secretary, Peter Lopez, a candidate for mayor of Murcia in the forthcoming municipal elections in May 2011.

So it was decided unanimously at a meeting this afternoon in which were present members of the Municipal Executive Committee and the General Secretaries of District Partnerships Murcia.

To the leaders of the PSOE in Murcia, Pedro López, represents the renewal of the socialist project to break with the inequalities between the center of the city and its districts created by the Popular Party in his years of government.

Furthermore Lopez brings leadership, spirit of change and work to address current and future challenges to those faced by the municipality of Murcia.

The proposal has been addressed and approved with the greatest desire for dialogue and consensus.

With this meeting, the PSOE de Murcia officially opens the process of choosing a candidate for mayor of Murcia, has been established as the regional and federal leadership of the party.

The Municipal Executive Committee recalled that until 21 September, any militant who meet the approval of at least 20 percent of the membership (400 signatures) could also submit your application so that it would open a primary process, to be held on 3 October.

In the case of Pedro Lopez was the only candidate, it would be officially declared candidate for mayor of Murcia for the PSOE on 25 September.

Pedro Lopez (Los Martínez del Puerto, 1963) a degree in law, and has two daughters with his current partner.

He was elected general secretary of the Municipal Executive in Murcia in September 2009 and currently is secretary of Electoral Action in the Regional Executive.

Socialist Party since age 18, has held various positions in the ancient organic group of Puerto de la Cadena district.

Is an officer of the City of Murcia.

He is also coordinator of the public employees union and a former secretary SIME Organization of the Federation of Public Service UGT.
