The fleet of the City of Murcia receives the certificate fleet Eco-EU (03/08/2010)

The City of Murcia, through joint work between the Department of Environment and Urban Quality, who runs Adela Martínez-Cache, the Local Agency for Energy and Climate Change in Murcia and General Services, has achieved certification of Eco- fleet of excellence committed EU measures to reduce fuel consumption in the City Mobile Park in Murcia.

Certification has been achieved through the European project Recodrive of the Intelligent Energy for Europe that seeks to recognize institutions that use energy efficiency criteria in the management and maintenance of vehicle fleets.

In particular, measures committed by the city of Murcia include conducting driving courses for drivers of city vehicles and a feasibility study for the monitoring and control of fuel consumption per vehicle.

It also carries out training of personnel of the fleet in maintenance of vehicles based on criteria energy efficiency, planning and logistics activities in the park under the criteria of reducing vehicle fuel consumption and performance monitoring and data collection of operators and municipal fleet users as a mechanism for feedback on the effectiveness of the measures.

This action is other than the Department of Environment and Urban Quality through ALEM, being carried out in order to reduce municipal energy consumption and enhance sustainable mobility in the municipality within its commitment to combat climate change materialized through the Local Strategy to Combat Climate Change Plan 2008-2011 and the Sustainable Energy Action Murcia.

Thus, the Board of Governors approved last June, the purchase of eight electric vehicles, the purchase will be funded in full by the Autonomous Community and to replace eight other municipal fleet vehicles.

These new cars will not produce any polluting emissions to the environment, plus virtually no noises.

Thus, these eight vehicles will emit into the atmosphere of 1069.6 grams of CO2 into the atmosphere per mile.

Similarly, the service contract for street cleaning and refuse collection out in the specifications required to join the fleet gas or electric vehicles.

Moreover, the interest of the City by encouraging the use of these vehicles is shown in the municipal tax collected since 2008 a bonus of 30% in vehicle tax for the first three years for electric cars with low emissions.

This year nearly a thousand people will benefit from the measure.
