It will be a unique facility in the world.

And it begins to take shape.

The Future Museum of Art, Design and Environment of Murcia (Madman) exceed the stiffness of a building to become an open space over nearly 2 miles along the river Segura, forming a veritable museum space that will make a Murcia global benchmark of culture, innovation and creativity.

The Deputy Mayor of Planning, Fernando Berberena, accompanied by the architect Terence Riley, presented this morning the details of the project was delivered yesterday to the Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara.

Levante Park will occupy an area of 1.7 kilometers on a side, almost as much as the present village of Murcia, Cartagena motorway until Víctor Villegas Auditorium.

The project not only respects the environment of the River Segura but revitalize it, transforming the groves and the future park in a public space.

The main elements of the project are:

1.

Museum Campus: It is a true extension of the city.

The Museum buildings are conceived as a platform for formal and ceremonial meetings, presentations, art installations and permanent or temporary as the starting point for visitors to the park.

The gardens of the museum will have over 6,000 square meters and the permanent collection will be located in a building of 6,350 meters, with another dedicated to temporary exhibitions, some 2,000 meters.

2.

Landscape art: Most of the terrain-park lift about 75% - is reserved for artistic landscape: a changing natural landscape where scheduled activities, spaces for sculpture and environmental art that complement the natural beauty of the trail the river's edge.

3.

Gardens: Respecting cultural and historical significance of the environment, it is proposed that up to 80,000 square feet of trees that exist in the area, incorporating the artistic landscape.

4.

Ecological Malecón: The Flow of security has been slowed by an overflow, creating a shallow waterway and wide to the east, contrasting with their most natural state in the West.

The idea is to continue the city's historic Pier into the park.

5.

Grand Prairie: This is part of the park, reserved as an open green space for community and civic events.

Given the scarcity of water, the selected program shall be durable, low maintenance and minimal irrigation.

6.

The seed: The seed introduces the concept of community of local and international artists, which provides housing and studio space where creativity can advance their proposals, strengthening programs of cultural institutions nearby.

7.

Food: The Center for Food and Agriculture will promote all aspects of the local cuisine, from production to educational programs and restaurants.

8.

Community Gardens: The community garden program will provide opportunities for gardening public physical and social benefit of the people and neighborhoods of Murcia.

9.

Amphitheatre: Given the prominence of the performing arts in contemporary culture, an informal outdoor amphitheater and integrated into the landscape.

10.

Seasons: Throughout the park will be distributed break points that will make the tour more enjoyable environment.

11.

Games: For the vast extent of the park is also planning to distribute sports areas, playgrounds and tennis competitions to celebrate small and large scale.

Sustainable project

Madman The project is sustainable, especially for its respect for water management.

Thus, the museum and the park will have drip irrigation systems, porous pavement that allow water to seep and native vegetation.

Similarly, it will address the use of ground wood, composting carried out in the park itself and reuse of materials.

Site structures also employ design strategies to reduce energy consumption.

Fernando Berberena recalled that the future museum will have a clear and perceptible impact on the city and propose a unique approach to how this connection has evolved over time and how busy the artists for centuries.

As I remember yesterday Mayor House, the Madman is destined to become a hallmark for the city and a focal point for art and design based on the environment.

Collect, preserve and expose the arts that reflect the profound relationship between humanity and nature, culture and environment, incorporating as a single item in the world to have a museum open.
