Zurera Soledad Lopez, a retired professor of literature at a secondary school in Cordoba, has won with his "The cliques of Eros" the X Prize for Poetry "Denise Garcia of the University of Murcia, in an edition in which we have broken records participation with 230 poems submitted.
The prize, worth 6,000 euros and the publication of the work has attracted authors from all over the country and 57 of 19 European and American countries, mainly from Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Cuba, Peru and the United States.
By region, the majority of works are from Andalusia, Madrid, Murcia and Valencia.
The winner was announced today at the Chancellor of the University of Murcia, in a ceremony that included the presence and intervention of the poet who gives name to the Award, Denise Garcia.
Professor of Spanish Literature at the University of Murcia, Francisco Javier Díez de Revenga, on behalf of the rest of the jury, composed by poets Eloy Sánchez Rosillo and José María Alvarez and Professor Francisco Vicente Gómez, emphasized the "sweeping and irresistible sensuality" running through the work, "in which there is a lesson in understanding of life."
The author, Soledad Zurera, received the award from the Vice Chancellor of University Extension, Francisco Guillermo Diaz, who presided over a ceremony in which family members also met the award-winning and representatives of the Cultural Service of the University, responsible for organizing Award.
