For the first time in 27 editions of the summer courses at the University of Murcia, the town of Puerto Lumbreras will become home to an activity of the International University of Mar. 12 to July 16 will host the "Symposium for further scientific 50 ", an initiative to bring science to this population sector.
Through lectures and workshops, the conference will familiarize students with healthy eating habits or bring them keys to improving memory.
A talk entitled "Manual of survival in the era of electronics and telecommunications," by two professors of computer science at the University of Murcia, advise students on all matters relating to the Internet, email, chats, blogs and social networks .
Among the topics to be discussed at the conference will include the problem of pollution, the potential of new technologies or the application of mathematics in everyday life, among other aspects.
Along with the more purely theoretical activities, the conference includes a wide range of recreational and cultural activities, including an exhibition, food tasting and a practical session of physiotherapy.
The program also includes a guided tour of the facilities of the Plataforma Solar de Almeria, an astronomical observatory in Cabezo de la Jara and an excursion to the town of Aguilas.
The conference will be held in the House Elves, a newly restored building in the historic center of Puerto Lumbreras.
The activity is directed by Professor of the University of Murcia Antonio Guirao Piñera, coordinator of the Department of Science and Technology Vice President for University Extension of the center.
The deadline for registration has been extended until 11 July.
