Technical characteristics
The construction project of the integral burial of the Murcia del Carmen station and the Barriomar tunnel, with a total length of 2,830 m, includes the building of the new station, the integration of the road and the exit tunnel towards Murcia -Cargas and Almería.
For the execution of the works, making them compatible with the railway service of the station, several phases of execution have been defined, the first of which will be the burial of the central body of the road, in which and to execute the lateral screens the rail service will be provided in the north and south areas.
To the north, the standard gauge tracks will be located and in the south, through the tunnel of the access channel from Alicante, the Iberian gauge tracks and a provisional platform will be located.
In phase two, the future underground routes of the central body of the station will be put into service, installing four tracks (two of standard width and two of mixed width), allowing to dismantle the surface roads of the northern zone, as well as the railway diversion provisional.
Phase three will consist of the construction of the Barriomar tunnel and the burial of the northern zone, which will give continuity to the trains from the integration of the station to Murcia-Cargas and Almería.
This tunnel will be executed by semilosas, alternating the location of a surface path with the execution of each semilose.
Once the Barriomar tunnel is connected, all the trains will leave the station through it, which will allow in phase four to dismantle the road in the southern area and execute the final part of the burial in the area of the station, materializing an independent channel for the passage of freight trains.
In parallel, Adif Alta Velocidad is making progress in the construction of the first phase of the burial and to date more than 400 m of screens have been executed for the future tunnel, mainly in the area of the station and also in the Senda de los Garres , where these works have already begun.
