The councilmen Jesus Pacheco and Conchita Ruiz have presented this morning the first edition of the 'Nosotras a Escena' Project.
An initiative that is coordinated from the Teatro Circo de Murcia and Romea Theater and the Women's Area of the Department of Culture and Social Rights, responding to the objectives of the Municipal Plan for Equal Opportunities between women and men.
"It is a project that was born with the intention of becoming an annual event that focuses on theatrical and musical productions made by women, or that deal with women, questioning gender roles, within the scenic programming of the city of Murcia ", explained Conchita Ruiz.
"This theatrical and musical program created by women, is one more step in the long journey towards equality, promoting cultural equity in the public sphere and responding to the need for capacity for cultural projects created and performed by women", she has completed Jesus Pacheco.
The proposals that make up this first edition are grouped into two modes, one of Theater, called "Cycle alone" and another Musical, "Cycle Close".
Theater Cycle "A sola"
The cycle begins on Thursday, May 24, at 9:00 p.m., at the Romea Theater, with the performance of 'Emilia', written by Noelia Adánez and directed by Anna R. Costa.
The work shows the struggle of a woman, Emilia Pardo Bazán, who, at the end of the nineteenth century, is determined to be herself, that is, to behave according to her wishes and willingness to write and participate in public life.
Emilia tried to enter the Royal Academy of the Language, without success.
His insistence earned him the disapproval of many of his contemporaries, even after having obtained the admiration of some others.
Above the polemics, in Emilia the figure of a strong, intelligent and extraordinarily funny woman stands out.
A week later, on Thursday, May 31, Virginia Woolf's 'Una habitación propia' will take place, adapted and directed by María Ruiz and Clara Sanchís.
A OWN ROOM
In this representation, a writer gives a lecture to young students, in 1928. Her words, ironic and sharp, are the living story of a discovery: to devote to literature, a woman needs money and a room of her own.
Only nine years ago the woman was granted the vote.
«... And it produced the greatest liberation of all, which is the freedom to think about things as they are.» «It is strange: the history of male opposition to the emancipation of women may be more revealing than their own history of emancipation. »
June 8 and 9 will be the moment of 'Five hours with Mario', by Miguel Delibes, adapted by Josefina Molina and José Samano and directed by Josefina Molina with Lola Herrera.
The play takes place in 1966, when Carmen Sotillo just lost her husband Mario unexpectedly.
Once the visitors and the family have retired, she alone watches over her husband's corpse on the last night and begins a monologue-dialogue with him in which we discover her personalities and the conflicts of her marriage.
With a choppy form, minimalist, repetitive and full of topics, Carmen Sotillo says things, expresses feelings and makes judgments that many people today may find incredible.
To finish the theater section, 'Lady Chaterley's Lunar' will bring to the public a show that talks about the female condition, about those things for which women of all times have fought for centuries: true independence, true emancipation and the real need to make their own decisions.
For this, it raises some important questions about the use and perversion of language to manipulate our peers.
And all this comes together in something seemingly tiny: a mole, a small spot on the body of a woman who fights against an intolerant and ruthless society.
Musical cycle "Close up"
The cultural cycle is completed with a series of musical days.
The first one, on Wednesday, April 25, in the Stage Room of the Romea Theater, will stage Morgan, a musical project born in mid-2012, at which time Nina de Juan (piano, voice), shows her compositions to Paco López (guitar and voice) and Ekain Elorza (drums) and the three are encouraged to harmonize and create a new group.
In this concert, they present their second album, "Air" that recalls, in some of its passages, bands like Pink Floyd, Stevie Wonder, Adele, Jamiroquai, Amy Winehouse or Joss Stone.
Wednesday May 2 is the turn of Maui.
Composer and author of all her songs, sponsored by Martirio and niece of the legendary Bambino, Maui celebrates 15 years on stage.
Brave flamenco who has created his own universe in which he experiences the compass, the word and the humor, with a unique personality.
Finally, on Wednesday, May 23, the Madrid pianist, singer and composer ELE (Elena Iturrieta) presents Summer Rain, a commitment to the more alternative face of contemporary rhythm and blues and soul.
In this first album, with Pablo Cebrián in the production, the lyrical power becomes one more instrument of this broad sound palette that puts the music before the word, being this also essential.
