Broken stairs in poor condition, cracked walls, lack of soil in flower beds and deterioration of ornamental plants, lack of maintenance and pruning, water source closed, gravel in all areas of the garden, absence of swings for babies and garbage containers that hamper the passage of pedestrians are shortcomings that have been denouncing the socialists for a year

The socialist councilor Juan Vicente Larrosa will defend in the Plenary Session of the City Council of Murcia on Thursday a motion for the settlement of the garden of Los Almendros, in the hamlet of La Alberca, which is located in a neighborhood that was formed in the seventies thanks to the initiative of Cayetano Moreno Martínez, who was parish priest of the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary of the town for twenty-five years.

The priest claimed decent homes for the most humble families and made it possible to build the buildings in an environment in which a park was created with Plan E funds a few years ago, an investment of 117,000 euros that served an old neighborhood request.

However, time has gone by and neglect has caused that public space to be a degraded place today and in need of a thorough remodeling.

Broken stairs and others in poor condition and without handrails, which hinders accessibility;

cracked walls, lack of soil in flower beds and deterioration of ornamental plants, lack of maintenance and pruning, water source closed, gravel in all areas of the garden, including the playground;

absence of swings for babies and trash containers located at the exit of the garden and that hinder the passage of pedestrians.

These are the main deficiencies that can be seen at a glance, which have motivated neighborhood complaints and which have been denounced by the PSOE for a year.

For this reason, the Municipal Socialist Group will take a motion to the Plenary on Thursday to improve the state of the Los Almendros garden.

This proposal includes the preparation of an urgent intervention plan in order to carry out the necessary improvements that allow its use and enjoyment in conditions of safety and accessibility.

In addition, after the problems have been rectified, the development of another regular maintenance plan must be carried out, taking care of the care and arrangement of the furniture in case of breakage and the cleaning of the play areas, as well as the optimal conditioning of the ornamental trees, plants and flowers.

"It's about preventing the deterioration of an emblematic space such as the garden of the Los Almendros neighborhood," Larrosa said.
