The arrival of the month of May supposes the completion of the tasks of picking of fruits and pruning of the more than 12,800 orange trees that there is in the municipality of Murcia.
"The work has been carried out by five teams of six people who for several months have removed the 'suckers' of some specimens, eliminated the possible dry branches, pruned them to give them a circular shape and removed the oranges of the copies ", explains the mayor of Modernization of the Administration and Urban Development, José Guillén.
This also produces an improvement in the growth and flowering of the orange trees that grow with greater strength.
In total, about 640 tons of oranges have been collected.
In this way, explains the mayor Guillén, is able to continue betting on green areas and safer streets, eliminating the possible complications that these could produce when falling, thus reducing completely the oranges that have more than 12,800 current copies of the municipality .
