The Director General of Citizen Security and Emergencies, José Ramón Carrasco, and the Councilor for Traffic, Security and Citizen Protection of the City of Murcia, María Dolores Sánchez, today offered details on the deployment of regional and local media that will take place during next week on the occasion of the development of the simulation of maximum level of emergency organized by the Military Emergency Unit and the Autonomous Community in various scenarios of the Region of Murcia.
José Ramón Carrasco remarked that the most important of these exercises is "to coordinate all the emergency plans that are activated and all the troops that are mobilized so that, if ever, we are perfectly prepared".
The general director recalled that the simulation of an emergency situation of the highest level, "in terms and with a scope that has never been carried out so far in Spain, will require the activation of several Civil Protection plans, going to involve the mobilization of 3,500 people and, as regards the area of ​​the Autonomous Community, involves the participation of 800 people, linked to all regional government councils.
"We have excellent emergency services, trained and put to the test on the occasion of the great emergencies that we have suffered, such as floods, fires or earthquakes, but there is always room for improvement and space to perfect coordination among all the intervening personnel," he said. .
In the different scenarios of the exercise to be developed in the municipality of Murcia, 176 employees dependent on the City Council will attend to attend 50 incidents, including collapses of buildings with possible victims, eviction from educational centers, damage to the electricity and water supply and damage to roads and railway communications.
Among the incidents attended will highlight the intervention motivated by the simulated break of the Contraparada, which will create a supposed rise in the water level that will force the rescue of people who perform sport in the urban section of the river, between the Manterola footbridge and the Puente Nuevo bridge.
The event will take place at 1 pm and will require the intervention of Local Police, Murcia firefighters, Civil Protection, Red Cross or Lifesaving Federation.
The Autonomous Community will activate the Underwater Rescue Group of the Civil Protection Volunteers Association of Cehegín, with one vessel and 4 people.
