Students of the UCAM attended this week a theater play starring internal prisoners of the Murcia I Prison Center (Sangonera La Verde) and that has taken place in the Hall of Acts of the University.
A pioneering initiative that has been organized by the University with the aim of helping and sensitizing young people.
Its protagonists are 9 inmates who are in third grade and who, demonstrating their ability to reintegrate themselves socially, have volunteered to show young people the danger of drug use through a performance with a simple dance that symbolizes a clear 'No to Drugs' and a talk with the students.
"This experience is very interesting because they are the ones who tell what they have lived, their experience and problems, thus making others aware of the danger of what it means to commit a crime" said Antonio Alcaraz, Vice Chancellor of University Extension and director of the Department of Human and Religious Sciences of the UCAM.
An activity that has been underway for a year in various centers in the Region of Murcia and which, as Sister Josefa, a religious of Christ Crucified, who has worked with the penitentiary for 30 years emphasized: "It cost them a lot at first, but There is a very positive thing here that I am discovering in them, and that is that as they see the response they have and the welcome from others, they are getting better and every day they come with more enthusiasm ".
