The UCAM with the Diocese of Jerez will promote studies in Canon Law in the civil field (12/04/2018)

The president of the UCAM, José Luis Mendoza, and the bishop of Asidonia-Jerez, Monsignor Mazuelos, have signed the agreement in the Campus of Los Jerónimos, in the presence of the Bishop of Cartagena, Monsignor Lorca Planes, and the Emeritus of Burgos, Monseñor Gil Hellín

The Faculty of Human, Canonical and Religious Sciences of the UCAM will now have a section in the Diocese of Asidonia-Jerez for the teaching of the Degree in Canon Law, following the teaching and research criteria of the civil university field.

The possibility of offering this formation arises from the agreement that has been signed today by the president of the UCAM, José Luis Mendoza, and the bishop of the Diocese of Asidonia-Jerez, Monsignor José Mazuelos, in the Campus of Los Jerónimos.

About this agreement José Luis Mendoza has assured that "this formation that is going to be imparted has as its fundamental objective to be an instrument to serve the Church".

Mendoza has also underlined the importance that these degrees have the highest quality parameters as it happens with the rest of the training offered at the University.

For his part Monseñor Mazuelos, stressed "the importance of the Catholic Church is present in the field of education" and has shown his satisfaction for being able to disseminate these titles through the UCAM.

The Bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena, Monsignor José Manuel Lorca Planes, was also present at the event, which has valued the great work that the Catholic University is developing in its little more than 20 years of existence, always from "the vocation of service to the person".

In the course of the agreement has also intervened the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Canonical and Religious of the Catholic, Javier Belda, who said that with this training "what we are going to do is to promote canon law at the civil university, bringing it closer to the world, combining online training with face-to-face sessions in different geographical areas and which will have the first seat for all of southern Spain to the city of Jerez. "

"This formation is open to all, whether to lay people, ecclesiastics or religious," Belda added.

The new section of this Faculty will be coordinated by the Judicial Vicar of the Jerez Diocese, Miguel Ángel Montero.

Those interested in obtaining more information about these studies can do so by addressing both the UCAM itself and the bishopric of Jerez, as well as through the email pul@ucam.edu.

The opportunity to carry out these studies begins with the agreement that was signed a few months ago between the Catholic University of Murcia and the Pontifical Lateran of Rome, the University of the Pope, whose objective is the dissemination of ecclesiastical sciences in the civil field.

With the University of Cádiz

Also in the course of the agreement, Javier Belda, announced that the UCAM, in collaboration with the University of Cadiz, are in the process of launching a master's degree in advanced canon law that will deal with three fundamental aspects: Property Law, Matrimonial Law, and of Associations and Brotherhoods.
