The Los Dolores Campus of the San Antonio Catholic University has initiated the activities of the 'Route of the Strengths 2018' with the celebration of the first day of the IV International University Congress of Trail Running and Adventure Raids.
About three hundred people have followed the different conferences and activities that are taking place with the participation of great sportsmen of international stature and experts in all areas of this sport (trainers, organizers, researchers or marketing managers, among others).
In the morning session, the presence of Luis Alberto Hernando, Trail Running 2017 world champion, highlighted the existence of a university congress around a test of this type: "It is very positive and it is right that it coincides in dates with the sports event because it greatly facilitates the participation of the athletes themselves ".
Thanks to his presence in Cartagena he has had the opportunity to know the route and stresses that "apart from the landscapes, the cultural touch that has and linking the strengths is something very beautiful and meaningful".
As the world champion in 2017, his goal for this year is very clear: "My goal is to revalidate, the motivation is to repeat the sensations of winning a World Championship, I am more motivated now than before proclaiming myself champion".
José Antonio de Pablo 'Depa Runner', director of the Trail Run magazine, also participated in the first day of the congress and as a connoisseur of mountain races he wanted to highlight the good time of this sport but warning of the need to continue moving forward Progressively and safely: "We are in a great moment with many of the best riders in the world in our country, also at the organizational level, as demonstrated by the Route of the Fortresses with more than 3,000 participants. with caution and settle the foundations. "
Teresa Nimes, professional mountain runner and athlete of the UCAM, Mohamed Katir, champion of Spain junior in 5,000 meters and cross in 2016, and Inma Tonda, winner of the Route of the Strengths 2017, have also taken part sharing experiences of training and competitions
Antonio Sánchez Pato, dean of the School of Sports of the UCAM, participated in the opening ceremony of the congress;
Enrique Montero, Colonel Director of the School of Marine Infantry General Albacete Fuster;
Obdulia Gómez, Councilor for Sports of the City of Cartagena;
and Juan Alfonso García, academic director of the Campus of Cartagena of the UCAM.
In their interventions they valued the importance that this event is charging as a prerequisite of the sporting event itself.
In addition, Obdulia Gómez has highlighted that "many of the conclusions and results that are extracted in this congress will have their reflection in the future".
