The UCAM works on an EU project that studies immigration through theater (27/03/2018)

The `Teatrul Dramatic George Ciprian Buzau 'company from Romania together with researchers from the UCAM and the municipality of Lousada (Portugal) will work for two years on the European project Tele-Enters, which aims to bring society closer to the family situation of the immigrants through the immersive reality

The Catholic University of Murcia, through the OPRI and the 'Digitalac' research group, is working on the 'Tele-Encounters' project, co-funded by the EU, for the creation of a new theater system that combines tele-transfer of information and virtual reality, which allows the viewer to feel that it is within the scene itself.

The researchers Ángel Pablo Cano, Juan Francisco Hernández, Miguel Ángel Martínez, Sergio Albadalejo, Carmen María Carrillo and Javier Galindo, of the Communication Faculty of the UCAM, together with the "Dramatic Teatrul George Ciprian Buzau" (Romania) and the City Council of Lousada (Portugal), will stage this innovative work in the theaters `Centro Párraga' (Murcia) and` George Ciprian' (Romania) between the months of June and November.

In order to know the reality of the protagonists that will inspire the script, researchers from the three countries have interviewed immigrants from Spain, Romania and Portugal, respectively, to document the family relationships of people who are forced to emigrate to another country.

TO.

Pablo Cano, director of the OPRI, considers that Tele-encounters is an innovative project that allows "to understand the reality of immigration with theater and new technologies as a tool to produce identification in the viewer and understand the reality of who is forced to leave your country and your family. "

Marina Hanganu (artistic director) and Alexandra Constantin (scenographer of the project), from the Dramatic Teatrul George Ciprian Buzau, leader of the European project, have entrusted the San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia, all aspects of the proceedings, from the place of rehearsal even the technical team used during the performance, going through the design of the set or the casting that must be done by the actors.

After having selected the actors of the piece, the creative director, Javier Galindo, of the Digitalac group of the UCAM has traveled together with the Spanish team to Buzau (Romania) to carry out the first joint tests, co-directed by the directors of Romania and Spain , and to design the scenarios where the performances of this novel proposal will be developed, which includes the audiovisual production of virtual reality plays and the recording of short films for the total immersion of the spectator with a 360 ° exhibition.

All the audiovisual productions made as well as the making-off of the sessions will be presented, once the project is finished, in a series of conferences held in the three countries, and an international symposium in Romania, where all the results will be shown with the edition from a book about the project, interviews with the immigrant population and all the audiovisual material.
