The Councilor for Sports and Health of the City of Murcia, Felipe Coello, announced this morning the support of the Municipal People's Group to the celebration on the occasion of the World Day of Lipodystrophies 2018 on March 31.

A step that takes place in collaboration with the Spanish Federation of Rare Diseases, according to sources of the Party in a statement.

A day that emerges as a platform to develop reference activities, as well as to undertake, cohere and promote political and social actions in different parts of Spain and Europe, in collaboration with the alliances of Ibero-American countries (ALIBER) and the European organization of diseases rare (EURORDIS).

This is a campaign promoted by the European Organization for Rare Diseases (EURORDIS) and with the aim of raising awareness about the public health problems posed by lipodystrophies.

For this "seeks to implement actions that impact on avoiding social isolation that in many cases suffer those affected and family members with lipodystrophies, carry out activities to disseminate the characteristics and peculiarities of lipodystrophies, carry out coordination actions with all parties involved: patients, public administration, health professionals, etc., to seek resources and improve the care of those affected, "said Felipe Coello.

For this, the use of a gesture has been proposed, a distinctive element that favors the adhesion of all people to the Campaign, by generating a sense of unity and cohesion around people with this disease.

Campaign "L" seeks to form an L with the thumb and forefinger, which represents the initial word lipodystrophies, while transmitting a message of union and accompaniment and moves positivism.

For all the above, "the Municipal Group of the Popular Party of the City of Murcia will propose to the Plenary of the City of Murcia to support the celebration of World Lipodystrophies Day on March 31, 2018 promoted by AELIP (based in Totana ) and by the Spanish Society of lipodystrophies, SEL, at the same time as expressing adherence to the Institutional Declaration of the World Day of Lipodystrophies of March 31, 2018 ", the councilor concluded.
