The Court of Honor of Our Lady of Fuensanta offers all Murcians the possibility of participating in the new cloak that is being embroidered for 'La Morenica', which claims to be an invocation of peace.
The Bishop of Cartagena, Msgr. José Manuel Lorca Planes, gave the first stitch this afternoon at the ceremony that took place at the City of Murcia.
The Bishop stressed the importance of this new cloak being "for peace" and for the Virgin Mary to "look beautiful and thus be able to attract the eyes of the whole world, and when we look at it we can be builders of peace".
All Murcia who wish may participate in the embroidery of this mantle.
This collaboration will be supervised by embroidery professionals and the most delicate part of it will be carried out in the Paso Blanco de Lorca workshops.
"When they came to consider this initiative a few months ago, I saw in their eyes that this was going to be a reality because nothing and nobody was going to stop them", explained the mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, when he presented the president of the Court of Honor of the Fuensanta, Pilar Cáceres, who reminded those present of the intention of this initiative: "In a world as convulsive as today, we want all people to be able to give a stitch so that the Virgin intercedes so that we can reach the Peace in the world".
From this afternoon, all Murcia who wish may participate in the embroidery of the new mantle of the Virgen de la Fuensanta.
For this, the City Council has enabled the Exhibition Hall on the ground floor of La Glorieta that will open from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The mantle will remain in the Town Hall until Good Friday (March 30), then it will be in other municipal public spaces: from April 2 to 13, in the Ramón Gaya Museum;
from April 16 to 27, at the City Museum;
from April 30 to May 14, at the Molinos Del Río;
from May 16 to 30, in Puertas de Castilla;
