The City Council opens its doors for Murcia to participate in the collective embroidery of the new mantle of'La Morenica' (20/03/2018)

The donations of this initiative led by the Court of Honor of Our Lady of the Fuensanta will be dedicated to causes of solidarity.

José Ballesta: "La Virgen de la Fuensanta is the most important common and shared heritage of Murcia.

From this afternoon, all Murcia who wish may participate in the collective embroidery of the new solidary mantle of the Virgen de la Fuensanta.

The City Council has enabled the Exhibition Hall on the ground floor of La Glorieta so that anyone can contribute to shaping this mantle for Peace.

Interested persons can go to the City Hall from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or from 4.30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The donations will go to solidarity causes, thanks to this initiative led by the Court of Honor of Our Lady of Fuensanta.

The mantle will remain in the Town Hall until next Good Friday (March 30), after which it will travel through the following municipal public spaces for its collective embroidery:

· From April 2 to 13: Ramón Gaya Museum.

· From April 16 to 27: Museum of the City.

· From April 30 to May 14: Molinos Del Río.

· From May 16 to 30: Doors of Castilla.

· From 1 to 13 June: Palacio Almudí.

The act of the first stitch was attended by the Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, the Bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena, José Manuel Lorca Planes, the President of the Court of Honor of Our Lady of Fuensanta, Pilar Cáceres, and the secretary general of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Environment, Pilar Valero.

The mayor expressed his desire that "all Murcia and all Murcia who want to contribute their own hands to embroider this new cloak for Our Lady the Virgin of Fuensanta" and expressed his conviction to continue "building together this great city , contributing together to feel proud of the land in which we were born. "

"La Virgen de la Fuensanta is the most important common and shared heritage of Murcia.

There is no other element of our history and tradition that a little love and love of all Murcia, "said the mayor.

"Generations and generations of Murcia and Murcia have deposited their longings, prayers, joys and gratitudes in their Camarín de la Fuensanta or at the feet of the Virgin in the two pilgrimages we celebrate each year;

The public embroidery will be supervised by embroidery professionals;

and the most delicate part of it will be carried out in the workshops of Paso Blanco de Lorca, once the mantle leaves the city.
