Dr. Durairaj Maheswaran has given a conference at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the UMU in which he has analyzed the situation of the "Spain Brand" in the field of the globalized tourism market.
Professor Maheswaran has published extensively in the best-known scientific journals in the field of business and marketing and teaches at the Stern School of Business at New York University, one of the most prestigious business schools in the United States.
Maheswaran said in his speech that Spain currently occupies the second position in the ranking of countries that receive more tourists globally and that it is necessary to consider what we must do to maintain that leadership position.
As explained by the professor, global tourism will continue to increase as large masses of citizens join the middle classes, especially in the countries with the highest population density.
All this, would generate sustainability, social and environmental problems that need to be managed in the medium and long term.
