Next Tuesday, March 20, at 12 noon, in the auditorium of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Murcia, will be held the act of investiture as Doctor Honoris Causa of businessman Tomás Fuertes Fernández, president of Grupo Powerful.
Fuertes, Doctor Honoris Causa number 56 by the UMU, has been the first since, 40 years ago, Narciso Yepes began this award, in being proposed by two faculties: Economy and Business, and Veterinary and acting as sponsors the professors of these faculties Juan Monreal Martínez and Gaspar Ros Berruezo.
Grupo Fuertes collaborates with several universities, but it is with the UMU that it has a greater R & D & I relationship, in particular with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, with which it works in four areas of activities.
In the teaching field: organizing different training visits, supporting the extracurricular practices essential for the integral formation of the students.
In the field of research and technology transfer: collaborating in public and private calls with various research contracts.
The result of these collaborations are the improvement of their production, the preparation of manuals, books and scientific works, or the development of new departments in the company.
In the field of patronage: providing and conditioning various areas of the Veterinary Teaching Farm, as well as the future creation of a research chair at the UMU that will address integrated aspects of obtaining and processing meat and meat products.
In the business field: managing the pig livestock unit with its system composed of more than 200 mothers and the employment of graduates of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the UMU.
