'The Wave' is based on a real event that occurred in a California institute during 1967. The film tells the experiment called 'The Third Wave' by history professor Ron Jones.
The goal was to understand fascism through a 'game' in which students assumed ideas about discipline and feelings of community.
The sociologist emphasizes the importance of putting the role of education at the center of analysis to form free and critical citizens.
Also, the teacher explains that the film "invites reflection, showing the ease with which a skilled leader can handle the masses and revealing some of the mechanisms that can be used to achieve an instrumentation interested in them."
